Nathan Caldwell.had a son James "Breathy" Caldwell, .who also emigrated to South Carolina. This James was much older than his brother Robert - he resided there in Revolutionary days.  His son was Robert. He was a captain of the American forces at the battle of King's Mountain on 7 October 1780 - he never married.

The Caldwells owned land in Kings Creek in South Carolina, which is assumed drained off King's Mountain.

I have no way of knowing if this JAMES CALDWELL born in Derrygoon, Co Tyrone, Ireland and died 1786.with son Nathan1739-1800 was directly connected to my great great grandfather Nathaniel Caldwell 1772-1865. Derrygoon is about 2 miles from Drumclamph, so if Nathaniel was not the son of Nathan, he was likely the nephew. Time will tell, hopefully..
