James
McAskey 1818 -1858 and his wife Ann
Speer 1822 -1889 came from Tyrone.
They emigrated from Co Tyrone Ireland to Ontario Canada.
She travelled on the ship Envoy in 1851 with their children
Their address in Ireland was noted as Omagh, which is the county town of Co Tyrone.
There were only 2 McAskie families in Tyrone in the
late 18th Century. and they lived in Ardstraw parish. Often passengers notes were only
as accurate as the purser who took down the details so the spelling McAskey was probably
inaccurate. It remains to be proved exactly how James connected to this family.

that each homesteader provide proof that the land had been improved. When a homesteader
felt that he met all conditions of his homestead entry, as outlined in the Dominion Lands
